The 12th running of the Irish Oaks was held on Wednesday 25th July 1906 over 1 mile of The Curragh, starting at the Madrid Post. A pot of 300 sovereigns was availble, 20 sovereigns to the second and 10 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by Mrs Sadleir-Jackson, trained by Philip Behan at Mountjoy Lodge, Curragh, and ridden by Algernon Anthony. The winner won by 4 lengths, with a short head between second and third. |

RACE REPORT
Riviere set the early pace, closely attended by Indiana, Juliet II and Mallow Maid. After 2 furlongs Mallow Maid took closer order, leading until halfway, but then was a spent force. Juliet II took charge at that point and drew clear to win unchallenged by 4 lengths, with a short head between Nehushta and Morette. |
